WHAT TO EXPECT

As a guest at of the Dallas First Church here's what you can expect on your first visit.

As you enter the doors, a friendly person or two (we call them "greeters") will hand you a bulletin. This bulletin contains the agenda for the day's program as well as several announcements about what's happening in the life of the church.

If you arrive between 9:30 and 10:30am you've come during what we call Sabbath School. This is a time of study and discussion in various smaller groups. We have classes for infants through adults. The website menu contains links to descriptions of all the study classes we offer.

The main service begins at 10:50am with a musical group leading out in congregational singing, which means we all sing together. All song lyrics are projected on a large screen. If you don't sing, simply enjoy the music. During the following hour the participants listed in the bulletin will go to the stage to pray, read a portion of the Bible or sing. Finally, the pastor will present a message, or a sermon, which usually lasts between 30-40 minutes.

If you're visiting on the first Saturday of the month, a free lunch is offered following the service. We invite you to stay! The lunch is served in the gymnasium.

Finally, every 7th Saturday of the quarter DFC hosts a special weekend. That day's program is very different from what was described above and always includes a catered lunch, once again free of charge. For details check the Community Events section of the website.

Welcome to the Dallas First Church!
